here's is what happening you are witnesses what police say is a miracle, a philadelphia police officer shot, 18 times, and leaves the hospital, just four days after she was ambushed, in her squad car. sylvia young left the hospital to the hero's solute. good evening, i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica dean. dozens of the members of the police department turned out to show their support for sergeant young, including one who knows all too well what she's going through. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is live at penn presbyterian hospital with this story, alex. >> reporter: sergeant young is a 19 year veteran of the philadelphia police force and even though it the is unclear how long her recovery process will take she will certainly have plenty of support along the way with tears in her eyes, philadelphia police sergeant, sylvia young rose to her feet in a sea of solutes by her uniformed collogues. >> it is what she deserves. she went through a horrific

experience and she survived. >> reporter: sergeant young departed from penn presbyterian medical center just four days after being ambush by suspect gunman nicholas glenn who began a friday evening rampage by firing 18 shots at the young's police cruiser. >> i'm hit. i'm at hack mack at 51st street. >> reporter: commissioner richard ross say many shot hit young's protect testify vet and her weapon if you still she was struck too and says physical, psychological recovery will take time. >> i just had my ninth surgery done. i truly want to go back to the job. it is something i want to do. >> reporter: officer jesse hartnett understand's sergeant young's experience because in january he lived it, am burn, shot numerous times and like young, survives. >> turn tv own and see something like this going on again it is real traumatic. >> reporter: friday's violent tear injured five in total and killed an innocent bystander. another officer eddie miller was spot by suspected gunman during the shoot-out that left

the suspect dead. miller was released from the hospital yesterday. for hartnett he was receiving continue care for his injuries today and happened on young's release by pure coincidence but knows how it feels. >> it is welcoming, but it is still a good feeling. >> reporter: commissioner adds that they are collectively mourning the loss of 25 year-old sarah silla an innocent bystander killed that violent night. reporting from west philadelphia, alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> alex, thank you. a 16 year-old student is facing charges in the fight captured on video at the philadelphia high school. police say this fight between lincoln high student and teacher, stemmed from an argument in the classroom. authorities say that the 16 year-old threw the first punch but video shows both student and teacher taking part. the teen has been charged with aggravated assault, teacher a has not been charge. we have asked superintendent to view the video and he declined saying he wants to do

lesean mccoy and additional defendants. >> mccoy's attorney tells "eyewitness news" he has no comment on the civil lawsuit. federal prosecutors are weighing terrorism charges against suspect in this weekend's bombings in new york and in new jersey. right now amad kahn rahami is charge with the shoot-out with police before his capture yesterday. officials say the fbi found nothing suspicious when it looked in the suspect two years ago. that is when his father expressed concerns that his son might be a terrorist. rahami's father later recan't that had claim. a school bus struck a driveway over hang at princeton church of christ this afternoon. chopper three over river road in princeton. seven children and two adults on board were taken to the hospital to be check out. authorities say that no one was seriously injured. investigators tell us that the bus driver was attempting to headache a u turn when she struck the over hang. you may have notice that had gas prices are on the rise, and at a time when they are normally heading down. it is all due to damaged

lowering prices but due to a leak in the colonial pipeline that supplies gas from texas to the east coast, triple a find gas prices are seven cents higher then a month ago in south jersey. >> the whole south east up into delaware, south jersey are affected because the supply has been decreased, and which means prices will go up. >> reporter: southern states felt most severe impact with the pipeline leak but price of gas in parts of the georgia going up 27 cents from a week ago some stations ran out of gas and there are widespread complaints of price gouge bug there is good news. tuesday a spokesperson for colonial said a bypass pipeline is almost complete and gasoline should restart flowing at a normal rate on wednesday. >> everything should be returning to normal for us around here. >> keep it up, and have a nice, smooth transition into the fall with cheaper prices. >> reporter: that is the trend, prices should get cheaper in the fall and i don't mean to be debbie downer here but this is hurricane season still so you never know when there could be another
